A Wretch Like Me
KøbenhavnKUNSTHAL CHARLOTTENBERG
CURATOR, AUGUST 2021
Presented as part of Copenhagen2021 — combining WorldPride, EuroGames, and a citywide arts and culture program — A Wretch Like Me was a film and audio program at Kunsthal Charlottenborg examining norms, visibility, and diversity through a queer lens.
As Curator, I selected and organized the full program, co-writing its curatorial statement with Matty Kodat and assembling a lineup that wove through questions of self, community, transparency, and opacity. The program included Cheryl Dunye's early "Dunyementaries" Vanilla Sex and Greetings from Africa; Matt Wolf's Bayard & Me, on Bayard Rustin and Walter Naegle; Hazel Katz's Bubby and Them, on a trans college student and her Orthodox grandmother; and two oral history interviews I conducted myself for the NYC’s Trans Oral History Project, with Yva Las Vegass and Matty Kodat.
